Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson dealing with hamstring injury

The Minnesota Vikings day did not go well on Sunday with the team falling to 1-4 on the season by virtue of a 27-20 loss to the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Unfortunately for the struggling Vikings, the defeat might have been more costly than one loss. Star wide receiver Justin Jefferson pulled up lame late in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury. As you can see, Jefferson was noticeably limping after slipping on the turf inside U.S. Bank Stadium.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said after the game that it’s “still very early” to get a good idea of the extent of the injury. Per multiple media reports, the All-Pro wide receiver will undergo further testing on Monday. That includes a likely MRI.

“It was tough on him. He’s the ultimate competitor,” O’Connell said of Justin Jefferson’s injury. “We’ll get him back as soon as we possibly can.”

Prior to Sunday’s game, Jefferson was on pace to break the NFL single-season mark in receiving yards. This comes on the heels of a 2022 campaign that saw the NFL’s best receiver lead the league in catches (128) and yards (1,809).

Minnesota is set to take on another 1-4 team in that of the Chicago Bears next Sunday. Obviously, it’s too early to tell whether Jefferson will be able to suit up in that game.

We’ll have further updates once they become available.
