Josh Rosen (thumb) will be game-time decision for third preseason game

The Arizona Cardinals don’t yet know if Josh Rosen will play during their third preseason game Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

The No. 10 overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft has been dealing with a thumb injury, which he incurred after hitting it on a teammate’s helmet on Monday. He was back throwing a bit on Friday, and head coach Steve Wilks said he’d be a “game-day decision” on Sunday in Dallas.

“We’ll see how he feels right before the game,” said Wilks, per the team’s website. Wilks said he will be watching to see whether Rosen can grip the ball consistently with that injured right thumb before making a decision.

So far this preseason, Rosen has shown some good things, particularly in his second game. Going against the New Orleans Saints, he went for 107 yards on 10-of-16 passing while throwing his first NFL touchdown, which was hauled in by fellow rookie Christian Kirk.

If Rosen is unable to play on Sunday, then the team will try to split up his planned snaps between backups Mike Glennon and rookie Charles Kanoff.
