New York Jets quarterback Josh McCown announced his retirement from the NFL after 16 seasons in a column for The Players’ Tribune on Monday.
The column, entitled “One heck of a journey,” is entertaining, engaging and well worth your time.
In it, McCown thanks his “Superwoman” wife, Natalie, for being “a rock” for him throughout his long career. However, McCown singled out one person above the rest — high school quarterbacks coach Matt Turner — who pushed him to become the NFL quarterback we saw on Sundays.
During his NFL career, which sandwiched a season in the CFL, McCown passed for 17,707 yards, 98 touchdowns, and 82 interceptions playing for 10 teams.
