Jordan Matthews injured in first practice with the Bills

The Buffalo Bills moved on from an injury-plagued Sammy Watkins, sending him to the Los Angeles Rams in a trade on Friday. The very same day saw Buffalo add Watkins’ replacement, Jordan Matthews, from the Philadelphia Eagles in a separate trade.

Matthews struggled with consistency in his first three seasons with Philadelphia, but missed only two games to injury during that span. While not as productive as Watkins, the idea here was to add someone that will see the field on a weekly basis.

So it makes perfect sense that in his first practice as a member of the Bills, Matthews suffered an injury.

This is something you just can’t make up.

Sure Matthews was able to return to practice after suffering the chest injury, but him being unavailable for the media afterwards most definitely isn’t a good sign.

Buffalo will need Matthews to be healthy and perform at a high level if the team is going to make its first playoff appearance since 1999. Unfortunately, it didn’t start out too swimmingly for the receiver in his first practice with his new squad.
