Jon Gruden on Raiders job: ‘Nothing’s official yet’

Jon Gruden

Jon Gruden is likely calling his final game as a member of the ESPN NFL broadcasting crew Saturday with the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs taking on one another in the AFC Wildcard Playoffs.

Prior to kickoff, broadcasting partner Sean McDonough congratulated Gruden on taking the Oakland Raiders’ head coaching job. In response, Gruden had a pretty general comment, indicating that nothing was official yet.

Gruden to the Raiders will become official at a press conference on Tuesday. The longtime head coach will reportedly sign a 10-year, $100 million contract. It will make him the richest head coach in NFL history.

By noting that nothing was official yet, Gruden is pretty much confirming that he will be the Raiders’ next head coach. At the very least, he seemed to acknowledge this instead of questioning our intelligence.

After all, we’re very stable geniuses.
