John Harbaugh pushes back on President Donald Trump’s comments about Baltimore

President Donald Trump recently laid into the city of Baltimore as part of a larger attack against House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, who represents the district in which the city resides. On Monday, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh chimed in with full-throated support of the city while urging politicians to work together.

Harbaugh said his family loves Baltimore and its people: “My wife, my daughter and me, we love Baltimore. And more than Baltimore, we love the people in Baltimore.”

Addressing President Trump’s comments on social media about Baltimore being a “very dangerous & filthy place,” Harbaugh pushed back:

“I think all big cities have challenges and problems. Baltimore is, it’s not unique here. I think our prayer as a family when we go to bed at night sometimes is, uh — well it will be from now on, at least — is that the politicians to get together and work together, you know? Can you imagine how powerful it would be if the two sides of the aisle — two guys like those two wonderful people — got together and solved some problems and found ways to make things better? I mean, that’s what we’re all rooting for.”

Powerful words.
