John Elway Reportedly Has No Plans to Meet with Julius Thomas’ Agent

It’s a busy time in the Denver Broncos front office this offseason with the primary focus being placed on the future of  franchise quarterback Peyton Manning.

This means that Broncos general manager John Elway has to put a few things on the back burner. According to the Denver Post, Elway does not yet have plans to meet with Frank Bauer, who is tight end Julius Thomas’ agent. While those plans could change, no meeting is scheduled at this point. This is almost a guarantee that Thomas will be unleashed to free agency next month.

There is speculation that Elway’s lack of plans to meet with Thomas’ agent comes from recent reports from an anonymous party who claimed that Thomas only cares about the money and that he has already turned down a major offer.

Largely a non-factor in his first two seasons with the Broncos, Thomas has put up some ridiculous numbers over the past year years. During that span, the talented tight end has accumulated 108 receptions for 1,277 yards and an astonishing 24 touchdowns.

With just a few short weeks before Thomas hits the open market, the more time that goes by without the two sides meeting, the higher the possibility is that Thomas will sign on with another team.

The Seattle Seahawks, who tried to work out a trade for Thomas last season, are said to be interested in his services. In addition to that, the Oakland Raiders could throw their hat into the ring and nab Thomas from the team’s division rival. Either way, it looks like Thomas and the Broncos will be moving on from one another next month.
