Joey Logano has had his battles with Kyle Busch over the years but they have worked on and there is hope for them to have a better relationship moving forward and certainly now that they are in the second half of their careers.
There was the post-race fight at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2017.
Then came the Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum when Busch got turned by Logano and then proceeded to call him ‘two-faced’ because they gave each other well wishes in the television booth earlier in the day.
They spent four years as teammates at Joe Gibbs Racing from 2009 to 2012 and didn’t always see eye-to-eye then either.
But during his weekly show on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio last week, Logano says they have shared plane rides over the past year and has tried to foster positive energy into their relationship.
“There’s a friend of ours who has a really cool plane,” Logano said. “He’s one of the nicest people you’ve ever met and we all fly on the west coast trips together. You know when you’re trapped in a tube for six hours you really tend to work some things out.”
How much progress has he made?
“I don’t know if he considers me as his friend yet, okay,” Logano said. “I did tell him though, if you ever break down on your way home or something, I can be his first call. I’ll get up and come pick his butt up.
“I don’t know if he’ll do that for me yet but I’d do that for him. If you call me in the middle of the night to come pick you up, I’m not going to leave you on the side of the road.”
