49ers fear ACL injury for Jimmy Garoppolo

The nightmare scenario has become real life for the San Francisco 49ers.

In the midst of attempting a comeback of epic proportions against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, franchise quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered what appears to be a serious knee injury late in the fourth quarter.

As you can tell, Garoppolo’s left knee buckled as he was attempting for more yards. This wasn’t in any way a dirty play by the Chiefs. Instead, it was all about Garoppolo attempting to get more yards.

Garoppolo was eventually carted off to the locker room with backup C.J. Beathard taking over. The 49ers later revealed they fear Garoppolo tore his ACL.

We’re not going to speculate to the severity of the injury. But it goes without saying that San Francisco could be without its franchise signal caller for a while.

All of this came with the 49ers attempting to come back from a 35-7 late second quarter deficit. Garoppolo finished the afternoon having completed 20-of-30 passes for 251 yards with two scores and zero interceptions.

We’ll have further updates as they become available.
