The AFC Championship Game is off to a roaring start. More specifically, the broadcast is off to a roaring start, as play-by-play man Jim Nantz made a rather noticeable gaffe.

I can’t say I’ve ever heard that mistake, either.

Indeed, the quarterback Nantz was referring to was Joe Montana, who trails only Brady in conference title game appearances. Nick is Joe’s son, who went to Tulane University and to date, has never played on an NFL team.

One thing we can say though. As strange as it is to call Joe Montana “Nick,” at least he didn’t call him Tony. If he refers to Tom Brady as Mike, Greg, Peter, or Bobby, we might have a problem.
