Jim Mora fired by UCLA … on his birthday

The UCLA football program is looking for a new coach. One day after losing to rival USC, it was announced that Jim Mora has been fired effective immediately.

“University of California, Los Angeles Director of Athletics Dan Guerrero announced today that Head Football Coach Jim Mora has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately,” the official statement on UCLABruins.com read. “Offensive Coordinator Jedd Fisch will serve as Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.”

Mora’s career at UCLA ends with a 46-30 record. He generally struggled against the competition in his own conference, which likely had a lot to do with him being fired.

The tenure included four trips to bowl games, with wins in the 2013 Sun Bowl and 2014 Alamo Bowl.

The Bruins need a win in their final game of the season to become bowl eligible in 2017.
