Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh is currently serving a second suspension in 2023, however, this time the leader of the Wolverines football program plans to fight the punishment in court this week.
On Saturday, Michigan pushed their record this season to 10-0 when they scored a big win over tenth-ranked team Penn State. Not only was the victory a statement win from the National Championship contenders, but they did it without head coach Jim Harbaugh.
The 59-year-old was banned from appearing at the game due to a suspension by the Big-10 following an investigation into allegations that a member of the Michigan staff was breaking the NCAA’s advanced scouting guidelines.
This is the second time the head coach has missed games this season after being suspended for the first four due to recruiting violations earlier this year. While Harbaugh took that suspension without much of a fight, that is not the case when it comes to the current ban that will keep him off the Michigan sideline for the rest of the season.

When the news of Harbaugh’s punishment came down on Friday, it wasn’t long before the university filed a formal complaint against the conference and is seeking a restraining order that would negate the suspension and get him back on the field.
A hearing for the complaint is set for this Friday, and Harbaugh revealed on Monday he will be in attendance and plans to personally fight this latest suspension.
“I’m going to talk on Friday,” Harbaugh said (via ESPN). “I’m just looking forward to that opportunity — due process. I’m not looking for special treatment, not looking for a popularity contest, just looking for the merit of what the case is.”
The Wolverines have two games left on the schedule. They face Maryland on the road this week, and then have a massive matchup against No. 1 ranked Ohio State on Nov. 25.
