A promising player coming out of Ohio State, Smith has never developed into the impact player the Jets thought they’d landed.
Since 2015, Smith played in just 14 games in his two seasons with the team due to multiple injuries. Last year saw the former Buckeyes standout miss all but four games after returning from the torn ACL he suffered as a rookie.
During his career, Smith has caught just 10 passes for 135 yards and one touchdown.
