New York Jets tight end C.J. Uzomah was informed he will be released, creating a 2024 cap savings of $5.3 million.

Uzomah, 31, will become a free agent and is attempting to return from knee surgery.

Uzomah had eight catches for 58 yards and one touchdown in 2023 and had one year left on the three-year, $24 million contract he signed in free agency before the 2022 season.

Uzomah made $16 million for two seasons with the Jets. He had 29 catches for 290 yards and three TDs in 27 total games (21 starts).

New York has Jeremy Ruckert (16 catches last season) behind Tyler Conklin (61 receptions for 621 yards, zero TDs last season) at tight end on the current depth chart.
