Jessica Simpson Marries Ex-NFL Player Eric Johnson

Going from the Dallas Cowboys to the San Francisco 49ers is somewhat like rooting on the Boston Red Sox after being a New York Yankees fan. This is exactly what it appears former NFL WAG Jessica Simpson, who previously dated Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, has done.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Simpson married her long-time boyfriend and former 49ers tight end Eric Johnson in a ceremony on Saturday.

The singer and TV personality married retired NFL player Eric Johnson Saturday at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, her publicist Lauren Auslander confirms.

Simpson and Johnson began dating in 2010. They have a two-year-old daughter, Maxwell, and a one-year-old son named Ace.

Johnson played seven years in the NFL, six with the 49ers. His best season came in 2004 when the former tight end racked up 84 receptions for 825 yards and two touchdowns for a horrible 49ers team. He finished up with one season in New Orleans before retiring.

Simpson, who had a public relationship with Romo years back, has been the butt of some jokes about her lack of intelligence. On the other hand, Johnson is a Yale grad. Sometimes “opposites” do attract.

Let’s just hope Carrie Underwood’s Cowboy Casanova didn’t play at the ceremony.

In all seriousness, congratulations to the newlyweds.
