Jerry Rice: 49ers should sign Dez Bryant

When we talk about the wide receiver position and the San Francisco 49ers, GOAT Jerry Rice is the first name that comes to mind.

Without question the best wide receiver in NFL history, Rice is out here giving his take on the 49ers following their 24-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

That includes San Francisco kicking the tires on Pro Bowl free agent receiver Dez Bryant.

“I think he can help us with experience and knowledge about the game,” Rice told TMZ Sports.

This isn’t necessarily an unlikely scenario. Reports during the summer suggested that Bryant was close to signing with the 49ers. That came after he posted a since-deleted comment on Instagram indicating that he prefers to sign with San Francisco.

From a 49ers perspective, it might make some sense. Jimmy Garoppolo struggled big time throwing to his wide receivers n a three-interception Week 1 performance against Minnesota. It’s a game that saw him complete 8-of-19 passes for 110 yards with one touchdown and three picks when targeting wide receivers.

It’s certainly something to keep an eye on should San Francisco’s struggles in the passing game continue during the early-season slate.
