This story just keeps getting stranger. Jeff Samardzija, who was traded from the Chicago Cubs to the Oakland Athletics earlier this month, will be wearing a National League jersey and sit with the NL team at the All-Star Game a week from tomorrorw.
Jeff Samardzjia will wear generic "National League" jersey at All-Star Game, sit with the NL team, an MLB official tells me. #Athletics

By virtue of the trade, Samardazija was ruled ineligible to play in the game, which is a questionable decision by MLB officials. The ace didn’t demand a trade nor force the Cubs to move him to an American League team. He was an All-Star throughout the first half of the season and shouldn’t be penalized for a team trading him.
This is one of the oddest stories surrounding the MLB All-Star Game since the infamous tie back in 2002.
