Ever since Rudy Gobert passed COVID-19 to Utah Jazz teammate Donovan Mitchell the two of them have had a rocky relationship. Gobert had been reckless and didn’t take the coronavirus pandemic seriously. That caused a rift in their relationship.
It wasn’t long ago that a report emerged indicating the situation was not salvageable. Mitchell reportedly was very upset with Gobert over his careless behavior.
Now we have an update on the situation.
Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell ‘ready to put this behind them’
Jazz executive vice president Dennis Lindsey provided a very positive update, which was passed along by Tim MacMahon of ESPN:
“They’re ready to put this behind them, move forward, act professionally. … We’re very pleased with the collective makeup of our group, Donovan and Rudy in particular. We look forward to moving forward.”
This is the best possible outcome. The Jazz would prefer not to break up these two stars. Mitchell and Gobert are both high-quality starters who have the franchise in great shape to contend.
Time has a tendency to heal wounds. It appears Mitchell is ready to put the past behind him and move forward building a strong professional relationship with Gobert.
