Jay Cutler stars in first practice with the Dolphins

Jay Cutler impresses in first practice with the Dolphins. but can he do the same in NFL preseason Week 2?

Jay Cutler went from being an unemployed quarterback to the Miami Dolphins’ starter in the matter of one quick week. He took part in his first official practice as a Dolphin on Tuesday and is already earning rave reviews.

Cutler had this to share after completing his first practice.

“It’s kind of a crash course if you already took the course before,” Cutler said after practice, via Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald. “Some of the running game stuff has changed. The passing game is kind of relatively the same. Protections have changed a little bit … It’ll come back real quick.”

According to the report, Cutler spent Monday night working with head coach Adam Gase studying the entire offensive play book. Cutler had one of his most productive seasons ever with the Bears in 2015 when Gase served as the team’s offensive coordinator.

And it looks like he’s picked up where he left off.

“He (Cutler) looked the part of an elite thrower,” Salguero noted. “He clearly showed a command over an Adam Gase offense that he has already had two years of experience running.”

Who knew that Cutler would play again after the Bears released him in March? Now, he is the starting quarterback for the Dolphins for the foreseeable future.
