Jawon Pass benched as Louisville struggles against Indiana State

One week removed from showing out pretty darn well against Alabama — all things considered — Jawon Pass was benched by Bobby Petrino in the third quarter against Indiana State.

Petrino inserted freshman Malik Cunningham into the starting lineup in Pass’ stead.

At the time of his benching, Louisville had not scored an offensive touchdown in the game. The Cardinals were tied up at 7-7, while Pass had managed just 89 yards on 8-of-14 passing with one interception.

As if to accentuate the point that Pass was off his game in a big way, Cunningham immediately led the Cardinals on an 11-play, 83-yard drive that he capped off with a one-yard touchdown run, putting his team up 14-7.
