Jason Witten: Redskins showed ‘horrendous judgment’ claiming Reuben Foster

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Given that the Washington Redskins recently claimed Reuben Foster, it was only natural that the topic would come up on the “Monday Night Football” broadcast between Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Color commentator Jason Witten held nothing back. Witten dealt with domestic violence in his youth and has remained active in assisting victims. On Monday, he let the Redskins have it for claiming Foster, who was released following a domestic violence allegation.

That was expected. And quite frankly, the words don’t read as strong as they sounded. While acknowledging that the investigation is ongoing, Witten was fiery in his message that laying a hand on a woman is absolutely unacceptable.

Witten has had some issues adjusting to the booth, something he has come under consistent criticism for. But there was absolutely no waffling or mumbling here. His message was clear, direct, and on point.
