There won’t be another prove-it deal in Jason Pierre-Paul’s future according to the New York Giants pass rusher, who signed a one-year contract for the 2016 season.
After his infamous firework incident, which claimed half the fingers on one hand, Pierre-Paul had a very successful campaign for the Giants this year. Before being sidelined with a groin injury that required surgery, he racked up 53 tackles, seven sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery that turned into a very entertaining touchdown (watch here).
Not surprisingly, he feels he has nothing else to prove.

In addition to his impressive stats, the folks at Pro Football Focus rated Pierre-Paul as the No. 12-ranked edge defender in the NFL.
Before his injury a couple summers ago, Pierre-Paul was coming off a 14-sack season in 2014. He hasn’t been consistently dominant throughout his career, however. After a 16.5-sack 2011 season, his production slumped the next two seasons, posting 8.5 sacks in 2012-13 while playing in 27 games.
It’s going to be interesting to see what how things unfold at the negotiating table this winter with the Giants before Pierre-Paul becomes a free agent in March.
