Jarran Reed suspended six games for violating NFL Personal Conduct Policy

The Seattle Seahawks will be without one of their top defensive stars to open the season, as defensive tackle Jarran Reed has been suspended the first six games of the season.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports Reed was suspended for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy stemming from an incident in 2017, which did not result in an arrest or a criminal charge. Rapoport also reports Reed did apply for an appeal, which was denied on Friday.

This suspension is a costly one for Reed, who will not be paid the first six weeks of the season. Already a huge bargain for the Seahawks, the former second-round pick will lose $418,788 of his $1.116 million salary in 2019.

The suspension will also be a significant problem for the Seahawks, who were already somewhat thin on the defensive line. Reed was a standout last year, racking up 50 tackles and 10.5 sacks from his defensive tackle spot.
