Jared Goff ‘hoping’ Kirk Cousins doesn’t sign with NFC West rival Cardinals

Rams quarterback Jared Goff leads the team on the field

Quarterback Kirk Cousins will soon have his choice of teams to play for in 2018. Among the many prospects are the Arizona Cardinals, who would benefit immensely by bringing Cousins aboard.

While Cardinals fans and players are hoping Cousins picks them, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff would prefer this doesn’t happen.

“I’m hoping he doesn’t,” Goff said, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “He’s a hell of a player. I’m a big fan of his, big fan of what he’s done.”

Goff and the Rams would have to square off against Cousins twice per season if he became a Cardinal.

Goff continued with his praises of Cousins.

“He’s tremendous. I don’t think he gets enough credit for what he’s done.”

There are definitely many who would concur with Goff’s words here. After three starting seasons of loyalty to Washington, the team blindsided him with a trade for quarterback Alex Smith.

If Goff doesn’t get his way, he and the Rams will face even more hot competition in the NFC West in 2018. This is a division housing the Seattle Seahawks, a revamped San Francisco 49ers with Jimmy Garoppolo and possibly a Cousins-led Cardinals.

Good luck there, Rams.
