Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden reached a rare milestone last week when he scored his 25,000th career point. He became the 24th player in NBA history to reach that mark.
Harden joins LeBron James and Kevin Durant as the only active players to score that many points.
Harden is starting to get going with the Clippers after he and the team started slow when he was traded there earlier this season.
Harden has a chance to move up a spot or two on the list, with Jerry West ahead of him at 25,192 and Reggie Miller at 25,279.
The next active player who has a shot at getting to 25,000 is Russell Westbrook, who is at 24,738. Westbrook is on the Clippers bench, but is averaging 11.2 points per game and barring injury would join Harden in the Top 25.
Think about this: From the 2009-10 to 2011-12 seasons, Harden, Westbrook and Durant played for the Oklahoma City Thunder. How great for the NBA would it have been if those three had stayed together a few more seasons?
Stephen Curry is 34th on the career scoring list with 22,385 points. He should join those four players in the Top 25.
DeMar DeRozen (22,247) and Chris Paul (21,951) are the only other active players in the Top 50 career scorers list.
