James Harden and Kevin Durant are both on incredible tears scoring the basketball during the Western Conference Semifinals between the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors.
The big picture: The two dueling superstars have both been scoring the ball at will during this series. And in the process, they’ve made history.
Here’s a look at what Harden has done through four games:
- Game 1: 35 points
- Game 2: 29 points
- Game 3: 41 points
- Game 4: 38 points
Here’s a look at what Durant has done through four games:
- Game 1: 35 points
- Game 2: 29 points
- Game 3: 46 points
- Game 4: 34 points
The two have nearly canceled one another out on a per-game basis with incredibly similar scoring stats. Durant is averaging 36 points per game. Harden is just under that, averaging 35.8 points per game.
History made: Now here’s the cool part. According to the Elias Sports Bureau (h/t Marc Berman of Fox26 in Houston), “this is the 1st time in NBA history opposing players averaged at least 35 points per game in the 1st 4 games of a playoff series.”
All we can hope for at this point is that the series goes seven games, and that both stars continue to pile up the points.
