Jameis Winston has chance to set NFL record nobody ever wanted

Steve Flynn-USA TODAY Sports

One of the biggest boom-or-bust players in NFL history, Jameis Winston has a chance to set an NFL record during the final game of the season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Winston comes into Week 17 with a wild stat line. He’s completed 61% of his passes for 4,908 yards with 31 touchdowns and 28 interceptions.

If he throws two or more interceptions on Sunday when the Bucs take on the Atlanta Falcons, Winston will become the first quarterback in history to pass for 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in a single season.

Can he do it?

Well, that’s an easy call. Yes. Jameis Winston can easily set a new mark for enigmatic quarterback behavior.

Winston had just four games out of 15 this season in which he didn’t throw an interception. On the other end of the spectrum, he’s tossed at least two interceptions seven times and has thrown at least four picks three times this season.

On top of that, Winston has a maddening penchant for throwing an interception on the first drive of games, so we may see this record set quite early on Sunday.
