Jameis Winston endorses DeSean Jackson to Buccaneers

DeSean Jackson

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been discussed as a possible destination for free agent receiver DeSean Jackson. Quarterback Jameis Winston approves of the idea.

“I’ve met him before, and we want DeSean. You better believe we want DeSean here,” Winston said per Greg Auman of Tampabay.com. “I think he would be a great asset to our team. Me growing up an Eagles fan, seeing what he did for the Eagles and back in his Cal days and even with the Redskins, I would love to have DeSean.”

It only makes sense that Winston, an emerging star, would someone like Jackson as a teammate.

In 2016, Jackson caught 56 passes for 1,105 yards with four touchdowns. He has topped the 1,000 yard plateau five times in his career, including three of the last four seasons.

Additionally, Jackson is clearly not a system receiver. His success has come in both Washington and Philadelphia, with many different quarterbacks throwing the ball his way.

Jackson would also be a good complement to Mike Evans for Winston. Evans is a big, physical receiver, while Jackson’s game is more geared towards quickness. The two would form a formidable pairing for Winston in Tampa’s emerging offense.
