Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was quick to assist fans who fell to the ground following a railing collapse after the Eagles’ 20-16 win over Washington Football Team Sunday at FedEx Field at Landover, Md.

Now he wants to know what happens next.

As Hurts left the field Sunday, several fans reached toward him for high fives and congratulations when the railing next to the players tunnel collapsed, causing several individuals to fall to the ground.

In the immediate aftermath, Hurts helped fans to their feet, checked on everyone’s welfare and even posed for a couple of selfies before exiting the field.

The scene seemed jovial enough, but it was a near-miss that anyone, including Hurts himself, wasn’t seriously injured, and on Tuesday, Hurts penned a letter to the NFL and Washington to call for additional steps to be taken to prevent another incident in the future.

“Through the initial shock, my first reaction was to assist those involved. However, while I displayed a calm composure, I understand the severity of what happened and am extremely concerned for the well-being of the fans and media.

“As a result, I would like to know what safeguards the NFL and Washington Football Team are implementing to prevent this from ever occurring in the future.”

Hurts and the Eagles (9-7) finish their regular season when they host the Dallas Cowboys (11-5) Saturday evening. Washington (6-10) finishes on the road against the New York Giants (4-12).
