Doug Marrone fired

A report earlier on Saturday from ESPN indicated that the Jacksonville Jaguars told head coach Doug Marrone that he will be fired following Sunday’s season-ending game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Through a spokesperson, Jaguars owner Shahid Khan flatly denied said report.

It still seems to be highly likely that Marrone will be given his walking papers. Jacksonville fired front office head Tom Coughlin earlier in the month and seems to be going in a different direction.

The team is in the midst of yet another lost season. Jacksonville heads into Week 17 with a 5-10 record and in last place in the AFC South. This comes on the heels of a 2018 campaign in which the Jags won five games.

Marrone seemed long for the job in Duval after leading the team to a 10-6 record and an appearance in the AFC Championship game in 2017. Unfortunately, things have taken a turn since.

Despite the Jags’ statement on Saturday, expect Marrone to be a victim of Black Monday.
