J.J. Watt Blasts Zach Mettenberger and his Selfies

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt doesn’t necessarily care for nonsense on or off the football field. He’s a serious guy with a job to do.

On the other hand, new Tennessee Titans starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger appears to be a goofy young kid off the field. Following the Texans 30-16 win over Mettenberger’s Titans, Watt had some words of wisdom for the rookie quarterback (via ESPN.com).

It’s just kind of a reminder, this is the National Football League, not high school. Welcome to the show…I just, I take my job very seriously. If I was a rookie quarterback being named the starter for the first time in the league, I feel like I’d be a little bit more focused than that. Maybe he’ll learn from it, maybe not. We won the game, so that’s all that matters.

Despite the loss, Mettenberger played pretty well in his first NFL start. He complated 27-of-41 passes for nearly 300 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

It still won’t be enough for the LSU product to overcome this selfie he took immediately after being named a starter this past week.

Or this one…

Let’s just hope Mettenberger focuses more on studying the playbook than this thing called Snapchat moving forward. Oh, and I guess it’s a positive he cut that 70’s porn-style facial hair thing.
