Isaiah Crowell reportedly ‘a goner,’ will be cut by Jets

The New York Jets are reportedly ready to move on from running back Isaiah Crowell, who is due to haul in $2 million fully guaranteed if he’s on the roster next month.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News addressed Crowell’s standing within the organization in his latest Jets mailbag: “Isaiah Crowell will be a goner after the Jets sign a free-agent running back next month,” wrote Mehta. “He has an additional $2 million that will become fully guaranteed if he’s on the roster by the third day of the new league year (March 15).”

Mehta is convinced the Jets will hit free agency to land a top back. That makes sense.

Obviously, the Jets will be going hard after Le’Veon Bell. They have a ton of cap space and are one of the teams oddmakers have pegged as a big favorite to land the star running back.

Regardless of the Bell situation, it is somewhat surprising that Crowell might be on the move. He was highly productive for New York last year, averaging 4.8 yards per carry, proving valuable in the pass game (21 catches for 152 yards) and finding the end zone six times.

However, it must be noted that new head coach Adam Gase got rid of Jay Ajayi, who went on to do big things for Philly after he was traded.

Crowell is just 26 years old and will certainly be in demand if he is cut.
