Injury-plagued Ottawa Senators recall two goaltenders from AHL

With goaltenders Matt Murray and Anton Forsberg both sidelined with injuries, the Ottawa Senators recalled Filip Gustavsson and Kevin Mandolese from their AHL affiliate on Monday.

Defenseman Cody Goloubef and forward Logan Shaw were reassigned to the Belleville Senators to make room on the roster.

Murray sustained a lower-body injury during Saturday’s 4-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Murray wasn’t originally slated to start that game but was pressed into duty when Forsberg suffered a lower-body injury during warmups.

Ottawa coach D.J. Smith told reporters Monday that Murray would likely be out “a little bit longer” than Forsberg. Smith also said it was “up in the air” whether Murray will return this season for the Senators (17-27-4), who have eight games remaining.

Murray, 26, is 10-13-1 this season with two shutouts, a 3.38 goals-against average and an .893 save percentage.

Forsberg, 28, is 2-3-1 with a 3.18 GAA and a .910 save percentage this season.
