As a two-time Cy Young award winner, it would seem like Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Corey Kluber has already reached his peak. Yet this season, the 32-year-old has taken his game to another level with a historic run since the start of May.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Kluber’s 56 strikeouts with just one walk allowed is a statistical achievement the game hasn’t seen in over a century.

It is the most strikeouts with one or fewer walks allowed by a pitcher since 1893, when MLB moved the mound to its current distance.

The righty’s historic stretch of near perfect command has helped lower his WHIP to a career-best 0.83 this season. Additionally, the veteran has allowed just 10 walks in 99 2/3 innings pitched.

If Kluber continues to perform at this level and can even come close to maintaining his 1.99 ERA, he could become just the 11th player in baseball history to be a three-time Cy Young winner.
