The Texas Rangers got some good news on Tuesday as it relates to their injured All-Star designated hitter, Hunter Pence.
Pence, who is on the IL with an injured groin, appeared to suffer a hamstring injury during a rehab game on Monday. On Tuesday, it was revealed that while his rehab assignment has been halted, an MRI revealed no new injury.
Being removed from the rehab assignment almost certainly means that Pence won’t return before the All-Star Break. It also makes it highly unlikely that he’ll play in next week’s All-Star Game, where Pence was set to be the starting DH.
Still, while there are negatives, avoiding a new injury is a clear positive.
Pence is having a stellar year for the Rangers, hitting .294/.353/.608 with 15 home runs.
