Hue Jackson: Browns to ‘move on’ from Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel isn’t going go be a Cleveland Browns quarterback in 2016. Hue Jackson, freshly hired head coach, reportedly “made it clear he’d want to move on from Johnny,” according to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports.

Ian Rapoport confirmed this only minutes later.

Manziel has done nothing but disappoint the franchise since being drafted in Round 1 two years ago.

From his off-field incidents, mostly involving alcohol, to more recently failing to show up for his concussion protocol with the team and then failing to pick up the phone — during a time in which he was spotted in Las Vegas instead of being where he was supposed to be — he’s proven to be nothing more than a huge distraction for the Cleveland franchise.

Therefore this news isn’t surprising at all.

Manziel wants to get out of Cleveland, and he’s going about ensuring his departure the only way he knows how.

However, given his penchant for showing he cares more about Johnny than he does about the team, it’s hard to know if he’ll ever become a good pro. Even in his ideal situation, which is presumably with the Dallas Cowboys, who knows if he’ll continue to waste his talent on booze and poor choices?

Jackson is clearly making the right call.

He has the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft and is picking behind the Tennessee Titans, who already have their quarterback in Marcus Mariota.

Get rid of Manziel. Start from scratch. It makes too much sense.
