Heat not aggressively pursuing Chris Paul, per report

Rockets guard Chris Paul

Once Chris Paul was sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the blockbuster Russell Westbrook trade Thursday evening, suggestions were that he could land on the Miami Heat in relatively short order.

While that might still be the case, this report from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald suggests that the Heat are not aggressively pursuing the newest Thunder star.

Boasting Goran Dragic’s bloated contract and other expiring deals, Miami seems like a great fit for Oklahoma City in a Paul trade.

That’s until we realize Paul’s contract remains an albatross. The 34-year-old future Hall of Famer is set to count $123 million against the cap over the next three seasons.

The Thunder might have traded one bad contract in that of Westbrook, but Paul will be harder to sell. That’s for sure.
