Former San Antonio spurs great and current assistant coach Tim Duncan will likely be enshrined into the Basketball Hall of Fame next year.

The Hall announced on Thursday that he’s one of many first-time eligible players, a list including Kobe Bryant.

In pure Gregg Popovich fashion, the Spurs head coach had a beautiful response when asked about Duncan’s candidacy on Thursday.

It can’t be a coincidence that the Spurs are in the midst of one of their worst stretches under Pop in Duncan’s first season as an assistant. Something is amiss behind the scenes.

Joking aside, this was the perfect Popovich response. It’s obvious that Duncan is a first-ballot Hall of Famer. He should get in with 100% of the vote.

We’re talking about a 15-time All-Star, five time champion and three-time NBA Finals MVP. Dude is as much of a lock as Kobe. Pop knows this.
