Tiger Woods has been arrested for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) after a rollover car crash in Jupiter, Florida, on Friday, March 27, according to Martin County Sheriff Office’s John Budensiek. Woods was also charged with property damage and refusal to submit a lawful test.
Budensiek said Woods “exemplified impairment” and blew a triple zero on a breathalyzer test. However, the 50-year-old refused to register a urine analysis test. Woods is being held in the city jail and will be released in eight hours if he does post bond. Woods swerved to avoid hitting a pickup truck pulling a pressure cleaner. The truck was pulling into a driveway.
It is unclear what Woods had in his system, but it wasn’t alcohol. This isn’t the first time Woods’ has been arrested for DUI. In 2017, the golf legend was arrested suspicion of DUI in Jupiter, Florida, after police found him asleep behind the wheel of his car with the engine running.
The toxicology reports confirmed that alcohol was not a factor at that time as well. The impairment was caused by an unexpected reaction to a mix of prescription medications, including painkillers and a sleep disorder medication. Woods pleaded guilty to reckless driving, a deal that allowed him to avoid a DUI conviction at that time.
On Monday, Woods returned to professional golf for the first time since 2024 in the TGL Championship. The 50-year-old golfer expressed interest in competing during the 2026 Masters, but that it would depend on his body’s response to practice and play during the week.
No one was injured in the crash in Jupiter, Florida, but Woods is sitting in Martin County jail as of Friday evening.
