Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic has died, the Warriors confirmed. He was 46.

Tonight’s game between the Warriors and Utah Jazz game had already been postponed by the NBA because of a “medical emergency in the Warriors’ family”. Milojevic had been hospitalized since last night.

Milojevic suffered a heart attack while having dinner at a Salt Lake City restaurant with Warriors coaches and players Tuesday night. He died this morning.

“We are absolutely devastated by Dejan’s sudden passing,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said in the statement. “This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him.”

Milojevic played professionally in Europe for 15 years, and won several awards.

After he retired from playing, Milojevic became the head coach of Mega Vizura, a Serbian team, and led them to the playoff semifinals.

He eventually made it to the NBA, being hired by the Warriors in August 2021. He was a member of the coaching staff during the Warriors’ 2022 NBA championship.

Milojevic was one of the more popular coaches on the Warriors staff.
