Giants finalizing $41 million extension with WR Sterling Shepard, per report

NFL New York Giants Washington Redskins Josh Norman Sterling Shepard

It might not be the receiver New York Giants fans wanted to see locked up over the long term, but the team will have one of its best remaining building blocks around for some time.

According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, New York is finalizing a four-year, $41 million extension with young pass catcher Sterling Shepard.

Shepard, 25, was set to enter the final year of his rookie deal. The former second-round pick from Oklahoma has put up 190 receptions for 2,286 yards and 14 touchdowns in three NFL seasons.

His best performance came this past season when Shepard went for 872 yards and caught 62 percent of his targets. He’s now New York’s No. 1 receiver with Odell Beckham Jr. in Cleveland. The Giants made sure that remained the case.
