The drawn out contract situation between star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and the New York Giants will soon come to a conclusion.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and Kim Jones the two sides are closing in on a mega deal that would make OBJ the highest-paid receiver in NFL history.

The deal will surpass the five-year, $82.5 million extension Mike Evans signed with Tampa Bay earlier this offseason. In fact, it’s more than likely going to shatter said contract.

Beckham, 25, was placed on the trade block during the early stages of the offseason. At that point, it seemed an extension was a pipe dream. But since, Beckham reported to all of the Giants’ offseason programs and was on hand for the start of training camp.

Prior to missing all but four games to injury last season, OBJ was among the most dominant receivers in his first three NFL seasons. That span saw him put up 288 receptions for 4,122 yards and 35 touchdowns.

He’s now going to get rewarded big time for this success.
