There’s no telling if star New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley would have suited up in a normal week as he recovers from a high-ankle sprain.

But with the Giants playing Thursday against the New England Patriots, Barkley has already been ruled out.

The reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year has missed the past two games after suffering the ankle sprain back in Week 3.

It’s definitely a major blow for a Giants squad relying on rookie Daniel Jones under center. Barkley has put up 2,339 total yards and 16 touchdowns in 19 career games.

New York also ruled out No. 1 receiver Sterling Shepard (concussion) and starting tight end Evan Engram (knee) for this game.

Shepard has put up 25 catches in four games. Meanwhile, Engram has racked up 33 receptions for 373 yards this season.
