Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly has a preferred favorite for Milwaukee Bucks’ head coaching job

We’ve frequently heard rumors in the past about a specific star or superstar wanting some sort of control or at least having their opinion heard on who will be coaching the team for the foreseeable future. Based on the latest Milwaukee Bucks rumors, Giannis Antetokounmpo may have a favorite emerging from the pack.

The reported finalists are down to Golden State assistant Kenny Atkinson, former Toronto coach Nick Nurse, and current Toronto assistant Adrian Griffin. Atkinson and Nurse have previous NBA head coaching experience, but Griffin does not.

Yet, according to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, Griffin is the one the Bucks’ superstar wants.

“I think that Griffin is gonna get the Milwaukee job because Giannis wants him. There’s like a butting of the heads in Milwaukee, from what I’m being told, because you’ve got the owner, you’ve got the GM, you’ve got Giannis. They wanna keep Giannis and they wanna keep Giannis happy. Adrian Griffin is his choice. That’s who he wants.”

Since this report isn’t from the Greek Freak himself, we’re inclined to take it with a grain of salt, but Griffin being the top target is fascinating.

For one, Griffin actually got his coaching career started with the Bucks as an assistant from 2008-2010. But that was before Antetokounmpo arrived. Griffin later spent time in Chicago, Orlando, Oklahoma City, and most recently, Toronto, all as an assistant. Now, Griffin may be in prime position to land a leading role, just four years after helping the Raptors win their franchise’s first NBA championship.
