Football players at all levels are becoming more aware of the potential for long-term brain damage by stepping on to the gridiron. It’s led to multiple early retirements around the NFL world.
Now, former Georgia four-star recruit Rashad Roundtree has decided to call it quits after a number of concussions in recent years.

“As a result of a number of concussions, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that my journey in the path of football has come to an end,” Roundtree announced on Wednesday. “As a child, all of my dreams involved playing football and it deeply saddens me that I can’t play anymore.”
Roundtree sat out the Bulldogs’ national runner-up 2017 campaign after suffering a concussion during the spring. He was considered one of the top safety recruits in the nation back in 2015 and ranked 15th in the state of Georgia, via 247Sports.com.
Primarily a special teams player in Athens, Roundtree played linebacker in addition to safety.
