Trey Williams ran for 114 yards on 11 carries and a Shalom Luani’s interception with 1:09 to play clinched a 26-23 win for the New Jersey Generals over the Philadelphia Stars, locking up a 9-1 regular season finish for the Generals.
Williams busted loose for a 61-yard touchdown scamper just over a minute into the game, and after a Philadelphia field goal, the Generals added to their lead on Luis Perez’s 16-yard scoring toss to to Alonzo Moore to make it 14-3.
The Stars (6-4) gained the lead at 17-14 early in the third quarter Case Cookus 19-yard touchdown pass to to Chris Rowland, and later rallied down 26-17 to pull within three on a 15-yard touchdown run by Matt Colburn II. But Luani wrapped up the win by grabbing Cookus’ errant pass on second down inside his own 10.
