Gen.G Esports opened the bracket stage with a 3-1 win over G2 Esports on Tuesday in the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational.

Gen.G won in 27 minutes on blue and 20 minutes on red before G2 rebounded with a win in 32 minutes on blue. Gen.G clinched with a win in 29 minutes on blue.

Gen.G will face the winner of Wednesday’s clash between MAD Lions and T1 in the Upper Bracket semifinals. G2 dropped to Round 1 of the lower bracket.

The $250,000 Mid-Season Invitational’s bracket stage runs through May 21 with a top prize of $50,000. That stage is contested in a double-elimination format. All matches are best-of-five.

Cloud9 and Bilibili Gaming will square off on Thursday in another upper-bracket quarterfinal match. The winner of that match will face the victor of Friday’s clash between JD Gaming and Golden Guardians.
