The Seattle Storm signed forward Gabby Williams to a contract for the rest of the 2023 WNBA season on Monday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Storm said Williams would join the team on their upcoming four-game road trip, which begins Thursday against the Connecticut Sun.

“It feels so good to be back in Seattle,” Williams said in a news release. “I’m really excited to be able to join the team again and I can’t wait to get started. I’m just so ready to get back to work with the girls and the staff and look forward to finishing the season strong.”

Williams, 26, has yet to play in the United States this season after spending some of the European season with French club ASVEL.

ASVEL suspended Williams’ contract before the first day of the WNBA regular season to help her remain eligible to play stateside as part of the league’s new prioritization rule.

Williams holds dual citizenship in France and the United States and has played for multiple teams in Europe after a successful collegiate career at UConn.

She was also the fourth overall pick of the 2018 WNBA Draft and played three seasons for the Chicago Sky before missing the 2021 season to focus on French national team duties.

In 2022, her first season with Seattle, Williams averaged 7.5 points along with career highs of 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game across 36 games (all starts). She has WNBA career averages of 7.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals.

Seattle is 4-12 and in 11th place out of 12 teams in the league.
