FURIA on top of Paris Major American RMR event

FURIA Esports claimed a berth in the Paris Major’s Legends round while Complexity Gaming, Fluxo and Team Liquid all earned spots in the Paris Major’s Contenders round as the BLAST.tv Paris Major American Regional Major Ranking event concluded on Sunday in Monterrey, Mexico.

FURIA rallied for a 2-1 win over paiN Gaming in the first-place tiebreaker, knocking paiN Gaming into the Challenger round at Paris.

The day’s other three matches were all-or-nothing showdowns, with the winners booking their trips to Paris and the losers heading home.

Complexity swept MIBR 2-0, Fluxo downed Paqueta Gaming 2-0 and Team Liquid edged Nouns Esports 2-1.

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament at Monterrey featured 16 teams battling for berths in the $1.25 million BLAST.tv Paris Major, scheduled for May 8-21.

paiN opened with a 16-11 victory on Overpass before FURIA pulled level by claiming Vertigo 16-8. On the decisive third map, Mirage, FURIA led 14-9 before paiN took the next five rounds. FURIA then won the final two rounds for a 16-14 win in a matchup of all-Brazilian squads.

Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato led FURIA with 65 kills and a plus-15 kill-death differential. Felipe “skullz” Medeiros logged 63 kills and a plus-9 K-D differential for paiN.

Complexity downed MIBR 16-6 on Inferno, 16-12 on Nuke. Canada’s Justin “FaNg” Coakley notched 49 kills and a plus-20 K-D differential for Complexity. Henrique “HEN1” Teles paced MIBR’s all-Brazilian roster with 38 kills and a plus-8 K-D differential.

Fluxo pushed past Paqueta 16-13 on Overpass, 16-9 on Nuke in another all-Brazilian showdown. Lucas “Lucaozy” Neves recorded 47 kills and a plus-13 K-D differential for Fluxo. Gabriel “nython” Lino and Lucas “DeStiNy” Bullo each had 37 kills for Paqueta.

Liquid sandwiched a 16-11 win on Inferno and a 16-9 triumph on Nuke around a 19-16 overtime defeat to Nouns on Ancient. Latvia’s Mareks “YEKINDAR” Ga?inskis powered Liquid with 71 kills and a plus-15 K-D differential. The United States’ Christopher “cJ” Jones produced 61 kills and a plus-3 K-D differential for Nouns.
