FURIA, Liquid, Fluxo, paiN roll in Paris Major American RMR

FURIA Esports, Team Liquid, Fluxo and paiN Gaming won their second-round high matches on Friday to stay unbeaten at the BLAST.tv Paris Major American Regional Major Ranking event in Monterrey, Mexico.

The tournament features 16 teams battling for berths in the $1.25 million BLAST.tv Paris Major, scheduled for May 8-21.

The champion at Monterrey will enter the Paris Major in the Legends round, while the Monterrey runner-up will enter at the Challenger round. The third-, fourth- and fifth-place finishers in Monterrey will open play in the Paris Major’s Contender round.

The qualifier is being played using the Swiss system, with elimination and advancement matches best-of-three and other matches best-of-1. The first-place decider also will be best-of-three. The tournament runs through Sunday.

On Friday, FURIA, an all-Brazilian squad, slipped past Evil Geniuses 16-13 on Mirage behind 27 kills and a plus-9 kill-death differential from Yuri “yuurih” Santos. The United States pair of Jerric “wiz” Jiang and Timothy “autimatic” Ta each had 20 kills for Evil Geniuses.

Team Liquid dominated Flamengo Esports 16-6 on Mirage as Latvia’s Mareks “YEKINDAR” Galinskis logged 26 kills and a plus-14 K-D differential. Caio “zqkS” Fonseca and Arthur “f4stzin” Schmitt each recorded 11 kills for Flamengo’s all-Brazilian roster.

Fluxo, another all-Brazilian team, edged BESTIA 16-14 on Mirage thanks to 28 kills and a plus-15 K-D differential from Allan “history” Lawrenz. Marcos “deco” Amato and Luciano “luchov” Herrera each produced 22 kills for BESTIA’s all-Argentine lineup.

paiN dumped Complexity Gaming 16-10 on Nuke as Wesley “hardzao” Lopes recorded 27 kills and a plus-12 K-D differential for the victorious, all-Brazilian side. Norway’s Hakon “hallzerk” Fjaerli put up 20 kills and a plus-2 K-D differential for Complexity.

In second-round low matches on Friday, Imperial Esports swept LOS + oNe 2-0, MIBR eliminated 00 Nation 2-0, Paqueta Gaming rallied past Team Solid 2-1 and Nouns Esports emerged with a 2-1 victory over yur.

The Friday third-round high matches will be paiN Gaming-Fluxo and FURIA Esports-Team Liquid. The third-round low matches on Friday will be BESTIA-MIBR, Flamengo Esports-Nouns Esports, Evil Geniuses-Paqueta Gaming, Complexity Gaming-Imperial Esports.
